Distinguishing Between the Upstream and Downstream Sectors

Jamil Abubakar is an accomplished pilot and first officer who acquired both private and commercial licenses from Epic Aviation in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. A graduate of Kingston University of London and Enfield College, Jamil Abubakar has also served as the executive director of Aximites Energy since 2012. Aximites Energy is an oil and gas provider and marketing firm located in Nigeria. The company is registered with the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and Nigerian Petroleum Exchange (NipeX), and currently focuses its efforts on both the upstream and downstream sectors.

The upstream and downstream sectors of the energy industry refer to different segments of the industry’s supply chain. While the upstream sector covers the extraction and production of raw materials, the downstream sector encompasses post-production activities such as consumer distribution. Downstream companies include refiners of petroleum crude oil and natural gas processors. Alternatively, the upstream market consists of businesses such as engineering firms, drilling companies, service rig operators, and even scientists.
