The Omenka Foundation’s Outreach Efforts
Jamil Abubakar is a professional pilot and the executive director of Aximites Energy. Under the guidance of Jamil Abubakar and the firm's administrative team, Aximites Energy engages in social enrichment programs through the Omenka Foundation in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Omenka Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of people in need through a variety of efforts. The foundation provides medical care on a monthly basis for free. Over 70 percent of the foundation’s budget is allotted for this work. Teams of doctors and nurses visit rural communities across Nigeria to provide primary care to their members.
Additionally, the foundation sponsored part of its medical team to enroll in postgraduate studies in the area of cancer treatment in the United Kingdom.
Omenka also sponsors sports competitions in rural areas as a way to engage communities and provide an avenue for youth to develop their skills and win prizes. Among its main challenges is improving literacy among rural communities and marshaling the volunteers necessary to fulfill its mission.
